30 things to write about for NaBloPoMo

nablopomo ideas

So you’ve committed to National Blog Posting Month, or NaBloPoMo, you sick, ambitious, person. I’m not doing it – been there, done that, got the flashbacks to prove it. But you’ll need more than a few ideas to get you through the month.

  1. Show us your kids’ halloween costumes. (Only good for November 1 posts. Any later and the magic’s gone.)
  2. Write a tutorial. How to alienate your Facebook friends in 3 easy steps (will happen by day 3 of NaBloPoMo).
  3. Do a Throwback Thursday post. There are five Thursdays in November. That’s 1/6 of your posts! You’re welcome.
  4. Write about a dream travel destination. Hawaii, or maybe that coffee shop across town that plays the good music.
  5. Write about how much you miss Obama. Save this one for when you have some time to reflect and process and maybe cry a little.
  6. Challenge yourself to write positive things about Trump. This one won’t be easy, but at least it will be short. (He…has radiant teeth?)
  7. Write about your insecurities! So many days this could fill!
  8. Write about your deepest, darkest secret. Maybe password protect this one.
  9. What are you reading? (Books, magazines, comics, social media, The Constitution…)
  10. Do an outfit of the day! Bonus points if you actually wear it somewhere. #ootd
  11. Write about an epic failure. Then stew in it for the rest of the day.
  12. Do a day-in-the-life! It’s okay if your life is boring. Use it as inspiration to do something interesting. Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing, AMIRITE, BEN?
  13. Write a bucket list for the rest of the year. Include easy-to-cross-off items like “eat turkey” and “panic about the impending holidays and/or nuclear war.”
  14. Write what you’re watching on Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Amazon, Apple TV, YouTube, Facebook videos, Instagram stories, Snapchat, through your neighbor’s window, or on your vintage Viewmaster.
  15. Wordless Wednesday. We’re all getting NaBloPoMo fatigue anyway. It’s National Blog Posting Month. Not National Blog Writing Month.
  16. Write about your dog.
  17. Write about your cat.
  18. Write about what you had for lunch. It’s fine, at this point nobody’s reading anymore anyway.
  19. Write about your love of pumpkin spice.
  20. Write about your hatred for pumpkin spice.
  21. Transcribe the conversation between the people at the table next to you because typing = writing.
  22. WHAT DAY IS IT
  23. Take us through your workout routine! LOL, actually don’t.
  24. Make others feel inferior with your over the top Thanksgiving menu.
  25. Make others feel superior with your instant mashed potatoes and boxed wine.
  26. Christmas wish list!
  27. Scrawl something illegible on a napkin. Take a photo and post that. Fuck it, it counts.
  28. Write about how you don’t know what to write about, but your sense of commitment and determination won’t let you quit this daily blogging challenge, goddammit.
  29. Do a roundup of Instagram photos you’ve taken this month. You’ve reached peak laziness. You live here now.
  30. 5 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum text.

Oh my GOD you did it! You made it through an entire 30 days of blogging! Wow, you will never do that again! Until next year at least!

I’m going to be interested to see how I feel by the end of this challenge. It’s not looking good and we’re only 3 days in ha ha!
